Run!

You know, if I spent as much time being productive as I did watching tele, I would get a lot done. But I can't help it -- Doctor Who is brilliant. I gave C***** Sorenson the Doctor Who Visual Dictionary for Christmas, and was really regretting it, because I was wishing I'd kept it for myself. Then my sister got it for me. Which was really awesome, if slightly emberassing. I spent the evening obsessing over dalek ships and trying not to look like too much of a nerd. The sad truth is, I could walk on to the television show Big Bang Theory with no questions asked. Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who -- you name it, I can quote it, not to mention statistics and little-known-behind-the-scenes-facts, the whole bit. I'm proud of my geekdom -- really, I am.

I had a really great Christmas Eve -- it was awesome to see the family. It's so crazy how much my little niece and nephews have grown up since last I saw them! Of course, I got my mother's lecture about how I need to get married and settle down and all that sort of thing. She's worried all that Doctor Who watching is going to make me travel the world and never stop. I suppose her fears are well grounded -- I've seriously considered doing just that.

Anyways, then I spent Christmas with my roomies. Well, except Jason, who spent it with his girlfriend, and Thomas, who went home for Christmas. Okay, so I spent Christmas with Damian and Jon, but it was nice. Damian can actually cook, so we didn't have popcorn for dinner, which is what I had been planning on.

I'm tired, but I really will post tomorrow or next day.

Don't step on any butterflies.

Dungeons and Dragons and Dilatory

...the story of my life.

A group of us (my roommates (except Jon, who's "too cool" for that sort of thing), Daniel, Billie, and Carolynne -- and, with any luck, Whatever-the-Heck-Her-Name-Is Sorenson) have started playing D&D -- Daniel's our DM, and is more than a little obsessed. I'm a human warrior (who is about to go up a level!). We managed, even though there are six of us, to have no magic users. I'm hoping W-t-H-H-N-I Sorenson will choose to be some sort of magician. We could really do with a healer.

There's a great Tripod song about D&D. If anyone is interested (if anyone actually reads my blog and is enough of a geek to look up a geek comedy group....) you can find the song by searching on YouTube for Tripod Dungeons and Dragons (okay, that was probably a no-brainer).
I don't actually have anything to say, and I REALLY need to go to sleep, 'cause I have an interview tomorrow (no, I'm not being interviewed, I'm doing the interviewing). I got a new spot on the paper. I know it seems lame of me to quit being a Food Critic, but I just don't have it in me to critique.
Okay, I really am going to bed. Maybe I'll get attacked by Daleks tomorrow and have something to write about.

Slowly Turning into a Vegetable

You are probably thinking to yourself: "Another post about potatoes? Does this man have no other interests?" But I assure you that the only references to the vegetable there will be in this post (besides that one) will be in re me and the fact that I have done nothing in four weeks.
Well, that's being rather unfair. I have done quite a bit of writing. None of it any good, but that is hardly the point. The point is that I have started twelve novels, several short stories, and a poem in four weeks -- not to mention watched every Cary Grant movie known to man and saved Hyrule at least twice.
Yesterday I received (recieved? What is the I before E rule?) a letter from Miss Sorenson. She also sent me a diary entry that I do not believe I was supposed to receive. Who accidentally sends someone a passage from their diary? Or anything else, for that matter. That's weird. True, this is the chick I met while she was knitting in McDonalds, so I guess her antics should not surprise me. (Is antics the word I want?) Anyways, I suppose I should actually respond, but I.... Well, never mind.

Mmm... food. I think there are some mashed potatoes left....
Ah, crap.
What can I say? My life revolves around potatoes.

The Genius that is Me...

...or not. A friend of mine and I (I'm pretty sure that's gramatically correct, but it doesn't sound like it) were bopping around outside yesterday -- theoretically working on a book -- and I got really sunburned, we were out there from noon thirty to about six. Then we did it again today, and my sunburn got sunburned. Yeah, it's fun.

Dash burnt baked potatoes! I am in love with potatoes in general (I took the quiz on Facebook to see if I am a vegetable of that variety ... it is uncertain. I think I'm going to need to have a Come-to-Jesus moment and figure this out....), but burned baked potatoes are just sad. I've been eating at a friend of mine's house, so I shouldn't complain. The problem with being a Food Critic is that it messes with your taste. Like eating ice cream in Paris....

I have been watching the cooking channel -- I might actually do some cooking this summer. Probably not... I'll be crazy busy writing. I'm entering a writing contest (if I actually get my writing done), I'm going to a writing conference in June.
Wow... I am such a geek.

We're playing spoons tomorrow -- just a random gathering of friends, mostly our FHE group. I should go make some sort of refreshment... Hmm... potato salad?

Twelve Rules of Writing

I eat and I write, and that's just about it. I started the blog to break the monotony ☺ Which I guess is rather rediculous, as blogging IS writing, and all I'm going to blog about is food....

School's been positively mad, and I haven't had any time to write, but I've only got a week left and then I'll have some time to brea--I mean write. I will hardly have time to breathe.

Anyways, I haven't got much time now -- and my thoughts are all of a jumble in any case, I can't get anything down sensibly. I'll post later.

Cheero.
